Amazon HQ2, one of the most anticipated national corporate expansions, is coming to Northern Virginia with an expectation of 25,000 full-time high-paying jobs; approximately $2.5 billion in Amazon investment; 4 million square feet of office space with the opportunity to expand to 8 million square feet; and an estimated incremental tax revenue of $3.2 billion over the next 20 years.
How will this impact our local housing markets? How will this affect housing affordability? What should housing owners, operators, developers, and planners do to prepare?
George Mason’s Center for Real Estate Entrepreneurship, the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors, and the Northern Virginia Apartment Association will host an evening of discussions with housing experts on the potential impact of the Amazon HQ2 project on the single-family and multifamily market demand, supply, and pricing in Northern Virginia.
Speakers include
Michelle Winters (Executive Director, Alliance for Housing Solutions)
Jeannette Chapman (Deputy Director, Stephen S. Fuller Institute)
Ben Sage (Director for Mid-Atlantic Region, Metrostudy)
Sandy Paul (Senior Managing Director, National Research – Newmark Knight Frank)
