Jane Green joined the AHS Board on January 13, 2020.

Jane Green was welcomed to the Alliance for Housing Solutions’ Board of Directors on January 13, 2020.

Her desire to join the board comes from wanting to be “part of the advocacy group that provides information about Arlington’s housing context and encourages both individual residents and elected leaders to be more expansive in their views of what housing can be in a thriving community.”

Jane moved to Arlington in 2015 and quickly became involved in housing policy and advocacy.

“My background in history helps me see that our housing policies are not inevitable and that people’s beliefs about housing are constructed by their economic, political, and social context,” she said. (She has three degrees—a bachelor’s, master’s and a Ph.D.—in history.)

Jane is currently the development director at Greater Greater Washington, a “volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization that brings people together online and offline to discuss, organize, and advocate for an inclusive, diverse, growing Washington, DC region where all people can choose to live in walkable urban communities.”

She is a graduate of Arlington’s Neighborhood College Program, is active in her civic association, and writes a biweekly column about housing for ARLnow called Making Room.

Jane is proud to rent in South Arlington where she lives with her family.
